Sammy Meade

Gregg "Sammy" Mead is a seasoned professional drummer and percussionist whose combos have shared stages with iconic musical acts from a variety of genres, ranging from Motown's ground-breaking funk-rock Rare Earth band, legendary bluesman Hubert Sumlin, seminal southern rockers The Outlaws and the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, to the iconoclastic Henry Rollins Band.

As a respected and sought-after sideman, Gregg's had a long-time involvement with the experimental band Party of Clowns as well as playing regularly with International Recording Artist MoJo Perry. He also performs with Stump the Band, whose spontaneous renditions of live karaoke requests require nimble, knowledgeable musicians, ready to play any style of music at a moment's notice.

Gregg Mead's resume as an instructor includes serving with the select teaching staff of Henri's Music and that of Billy Bob's Music, as well as working independently in his own studio. His own development as a drum student included a thorough mastery of snare technique before expanding to the use of a full drum kit, and more exotic percussion instruments beyond that. Gregg allows his students to move more quickly to set playing than he did, believing strongly that the pure FUN of drumming shouldn't be diminished by a too dryly academic approach.
